Driver 'amazingly' escapes injury as gardai called to serious accident

A driver and passengers 'amazingly' escaped injury as gardai were called to a serious accident in Kildare on Thursday.

The single vehicle crash happened on the R414 Rathangan to find a written off car after ploughing through a poll.

Gardai rushed to the scene but said that upon arrival the driver and passengers weren't hurt.

The driver had no driving licence or insurance with a court appearance to follow.

A garda spokesperson said: "Kildare Gardaí were assisted by Naas RPU dealing with a single vehicle RTC on the R414 Rathangan.

"Driver and passengers amazingly escaped injury.

"Driver had no Driving Licence or Insurance.

"Court appearance to follow. "

The Irish public is being asked to stay at home, except for travel for work, education or other essential purposes, or to take exercise within 5km of home.

Health Minister Stephen Donnelly signed regulations that will introduce a system of mandatory quarantine for arrivals into the State.

Passengers who come from any destination must legally quarantine for 14 days at the address given on their Passenger Locator Form.
