An 18-year-old man who was filmed killing a dog and badly injuring her owner in a shocking hit-and-run crash has pleaded guilty.

Kallum Aish was tracked down by West Midlands Police after they released the horrific CCTV footage of the incident last summer to the public.

The video was seen by millions online which led to officers from the force identifying and arresting Aish, who was aged just 17 when his Renault Clio ploughed into the unnamed victim and her beloved Staffordshire bull terrier Millie.

In a statement, West Midlands Police said although the woman survived with serious injuries, Millie was killed in the incident.

“We released video footage of the collision and had an overwhelming response to our appeal with the footage shared thousands of times and watched by millions of people.

“Kallum Aish, aged 18, was arrested as a result and he’s now admitted being behind the wheel of the Renault Clio when it lost control on Doe Bank Lane, Great Barr,” the force said.

He pleaded guilty to six offences in total at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court on Thursday: causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop after a road accident, being uninsured, unlicensed, possession of cannabis and criminal damage in relation to the death of the dog.

Among the injuries Aish’s victim suffered in the horrendous hit and run was a broken leg, which is still causing her to have difficulties walking.

He is due to be sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court next month, where he could face up to five years in prison.
