Driver abandons car after police chase through Bristol

A driver failed to stop for police and was chased around the city before being abandoned.

Avon and Somerset Police said a witness called police reporting a vehicle being driven erratically in Ullswater Road, Southmead, just before 4am this morning (July 17).

In a statement, the force said: "The vehicle - a silver Ford Mondeo - failed to stop for officers and was pursued through Bristol before being abandoned in Avon Street at about 4.15am.

"Officers searched the area with the help of a dog handler but found no trace of the occupant. Officers have seized the vehicle and enquiries to trace the driver continue."
