Driver, 76, dies in hospital after car leaves the road and smashes into tree

A man has died after the car he was driving smashed into a tree on a residential street in Wigan.

The 76-year-old was driving along Rose Avenue, off Beech Hill Avenue, at around 8am on Thursday, September 30, when the crash happened.

He was rushed to hospital but has since died of his injuries.

Police say they are still investigating the collision and have asked anyone with information to come forward.

Officers say their enquiries have established that the man was driver a black Renault Captur S.

He been travelling along Rose Avenue before leaving the carriageway and colliding with a tree.

No arrests have been made.
