PHUKET: Immigration police have opened a three-minute drive-through service in Phuket for long-stay and residence reporting by foreigners, in a bid to end the long queues.
Acting immigration chief Surachate Hakparn said it would handle one-year stay requests, 90-day reports, and residential reports by foreigners.
The new service aimed at reducing the long queues for services at the Phuket immigration bureau by 30%. The office served 300-700 people a day, Pol Maj Gen Surachate said.
Phuket was a tourist province and welcomed foreign visitors and residents, and their numbers were increasing steadily, he said.
