A drive-in screening took place in Akiruno, Tokyo, on Saturday night, giving film fans an opportunity to enjoy watching a movie on the big screen amid the coronavirus epidemic.

Held at the Tokyo Summerland amusement park, the event was organized by Outdoor Theater Japan, which produces outdoor movie screenings, among other events.

The film was projected onto a 10-meter-wide and 7-meter-high screen in the parking lot of the amusement park, with viewers able to listen to the audio via their car radios.

The audience comprised fifty groups selected by lottery. "It's difficult going to a movie theater because I'm concerned about who might be sitting next to me. But if you're in a car, you don't have to worry," said a 26-year-old man from Nakano Ward, Tokyo.
