Drive for net zero helps sales surge to almost £200m at energy management firm

Companies focusing on becoming net zero helped turnover jump to almost £200m at an energy management company during its latest financial year.

Vital Energi, which is headquartered in Blackburn, has posted a turnover of £197.6m for the 12 months to June 30, 2021, up from £150.1m.

Its pre-tax profits also increased from £4.8m to £7m over the same period.

During the year the group's operating profits were increased by £433,000 as a result of the furlough scheme while the number of employees rose from 358 to 480.

A statement signed off by the board said: "The directors are pleased with this increased level of activity and profitability in very challenging circumstances.

"The directors are satisfied that [its] liquidity position is more than adequate to support the group's future growth plans.

"The forecast for FY22 shows a continuation of the significant growth levels experienced in previous years."
