Drive by shooting victims are 'not cooperating' with police

Two men who were shot in the street are refusing to cooperate with police.

The men, one in his 30s and another in his 20s, were shot in the hands and legs in a drive by shooting on Stanley Road, Kirkdale yesterday.

They turned up at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital in the early hours of Wednesday, September 8, with gunshot wounds after the incident.

Their injuries were not believed to be life threatening and they remain in hospital in a stable condition.

Merseyside police has today confirmed that the two men who where shot are 'not cooperating' with officers at this stage.

Footage published by the ECHO yesterday shows a gunman ride up on a bike before jumping off and firing shots into a car.

Three passengers in the car jump out and run away as shots are fired at them.

After the passengers flee on foot the driver of the car pulls away from the scene.

Merseyside Police is now appealing for information following the shooting.

Detective Inspector John Fitzgerald, from the force's Firearms Investigation Team, said: "We’re working to piece together exactly what happened and so are keen to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of Stanley Road and Pansy Street around midnight and saw or heard anything, either the shooting itself or any people making away from the area, and vehicle details.

"Recent days have seen a number of firearms removed from the streets, and recent months a downturn in these types of incidents.

"To have such success it is absolutely vital that we get all information from those communities who feel the impact of gun crime, so we can bring those responsible to justice. Speak to us directly or anonymously and we will take swift action."

*Anyone with information is urged to contact Merseyside Police via Twitter (@MerPolCC) or Facebook (Merseyside Police Contact Centre). Information can also be provided to Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111
