A man has been convicted of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life.

Suhaib Majeed was found guilty by a jury at the Old Bailey which has been hearing claims he was part of a terrorist plot to stage drive-by shootings in London.

The jury foreman confirmed they had not reached any other unanimous verdicts on any of the defendants in the dock. They are Nyall Hamlett, 25, and Nathan Cuffy, 26.

The judge issued a majority direction, saying he would accept verdicts on which at least 10 jurors were agreed.

Tarik Hassane, 22, the alleged plot ringleader, has admitted conspiracy to murder and preparation of terrorist acts.

Earlier on Tuesday jurors were told to put the events in Brussels out of their minds as they entered a fourth day of deliberations.

As Mr Justice Wilkie sent jurors out, he repeated his warning to them to consider verdicts “dispassionately and without prejudice” on what they had heard in court. He said that while they “may or may not be aware there has been a terrorist attack or attacks in Brussels this morning”, it was “wholly unconnected to this case”.

He added: “I am confident you will be able to put the news you received or will receive out of your minds and consider the evidence dispassionately.”

Cuffy has admitted possession of firearms with intent to endanger life in relation to assorted guns found at his home.

Majeed admitted having the Baikal self-loading pistol, silencer and ammunition which he had allegedly got from Cuffy via Hamlett, but denied intent to endanger life.

The jury’s deliberations continue.
