KOLKATA: KMC will conduct a drive against water theft in large parts of the Jadavpur-Santoshpur belt. Speaking at the KMC monthly meeting on Saturday, Nandita Roy, a CPM councillor representing Santoshpur area, complained against a section of residents of multi-storey buildings who are drawing potable water from the main source by illegally pressing into service portable pumps.
Mayor Firhad Hakim said a drive would be conducted in such places with the help from cops. “First we need to identify the households that are engaged in such unlawful activities. Once identified, we will conduct a drive to seize the portable pumps,” said Hakim.tnn
