KHON KAEN - A DJ has lodged an assault complaint with Khon Kaen police after a video of a male patron slapping him repeatedly in the head, reportedly over a delayed birthday song request, went viral on social media.
The video, posted on Facebook by “Pattara Kajohnnapapong” and dated from the early hours of June 13, shows the man storming into the DJ booth of a nightspot and demanding the song be played immediately for his “drinking girl”.
Before striking the DJ, the man can be heard saying, “Do you know who I am?”
CCTV later showed venue security restraining the man and staff apologising, though he remained angry and was eventually led away by acquaintances.
Mr Pattara, 34, of Bangkok, is well known in the entertainment business, with the rappers Maiyarap and Milli among those who employ him.
He said he had been on stage less than 10 minutes and the Happy Birthday song was already queued when the man attacked, hitting him three times before he could play it. The DJ said he had already announced “today is Linda’s birthday.”
At Muang Khon Kaen police station, he found a photo of the suspect displayed at the entrance identifying him as a member of the Police Audit and Monitoring Committee for the station, details he included in his complaint.
Pol Col Yodsawat Kaewsuebthannit, the station’s superintendent, said the case is under investigation, with summonses being processed and the suspect’s committee status being verified separately.
The police confirmed there would be no discrimination or special treatment, adding that the case will follow evidence and due process, with action taken if wrongdoing is confirmed.
