Drink speeds up digestion and burns body fat 'quickly', expert claims

A wellness psychologist has claimed there is a nutrient full drink that can help speed up digestion and tackle dangerous body fat.

The best way to reach a healthy weight is a mix of a balanced diet and exercise.

However, wellness psychologist Ieva Kebiliute claims coriander juice could help speed up results for those carrying visceral fat, reports The Daily Express.

Visceral fat - which is often called the "hidden fat" - lies in the body's midsection.

It is not visible and cannot be touched - but carrying large amounts of visceral fat can increase the risk of chronic health conditions, including heart disease and metabolic disorders.

Ieva said that to tackle the fat, a combination of coriander leaves, seeds, flowers and fruit contain antioxidants that aid digestion.

Ieva Kubiliute, Wellness Psychologist, said: "Coriander juice is popular for quick weight shedding.

"It works by increasing your metabolism, thus burning more calories at a faster frequency.

"You may not like its taste, but blending with lemon juice improves the flavour and gives more effect."

Researchers investigated the effects of dietary supplementation with coriander seeds on visceral fat storage in growing rats and published their study in the Journal of Agriculture & Biology.

The rodents were fed either standard rat chow or chow that was supplemented with crushed coriander seeds.

Researchers say they noticed a difference in the visceral fat among the rodents after five weeks.

The researchers explained: "Whilst dietary supplementation with coriander did not affect the lipid content of the liver, it significantly increased the amount of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids in the visceral adipose tissue where it also decreased the fatty acid content.

"Coriander increased the omega 3: omega 6 ratios in the visceral adipose tissue which may explain its health benefits."

Previous research has said that coriander leaves can help boost metabolism by increasing the secretion of insulin, which helps manage blood sugar.

However, visceral fat is largely attributed to a sedentary lifestyle.

The best approach to shedding this is to exercise regularly.

Harvard Health recommends engaging "in at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity activity most days, such as brisk walking or bicycling at a casual pace".

Paying attention to portion size is deemed important too, as is emphasising complex carbohydrates in your diet.
