Drink-driving Mini Cooper driver mounted kerb and grass verge

A drink-driving Mini Cooper driver who mounted a kerb and grass verge said "it's one of the worst things I have ever done in my life".

Bronwyn Davies, 21, of Hazel Road, Newark, addressed District Judge Leo Pyle on Thursday (April 29) before he banned her from the roads for 14 months.

She told him: "It's one of the worst things I have ever done in my life and will never do it again. I'm sorry for everything".

Davies pleaded guilty to drink-driving in Forest Road, Ollerton, when she had 53 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, over the limit of 35, on March 7, 2020.

Her case was listed on March 24 last year but, due to the first lockdown, an influx of cases were moved, Nottingham Magistrates' Court heard.

A police officer was driving to Ollerton Police Station to start his shift when he saw her Mini Cooper veer off the highway, mounting a kerb and grass verge, and correcting herself in Forest Road.

She pulled into a lay-by. The officer identified himself and he smelt alcohol on her. He notified colleagues and she was arrested.

Davies, who has no previous convictions, was fined £276, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £34 and prosecution costs of £85.
