A man has had his licence suspended immediately after drink-driving and colliding with a police car on Saturday night.
ACT Policing said the collision occurred just after 9pm on Saturday night at the intersection of Hindmarsh Drive and Palmer Street in Garran.
Police alleged a silver station wagon turned in front of the unmarked police car, against the traffic lights.
The police car, a Subaru station wagon, rolled and came to a rest approximately 20 metres east of the intersection.
One of the officers in the car needed to be extracted by ACT Fire and Rescue, with both officers sustaining minor injuries.
Both officers were taken to hospital but no update was provided on their conditions.
The 69-year-old driver of the station wagon recorded a blood alcohol level of 0.163, and was uninjured in the crash.
ACT Policing said he has been suspended immediately and further investigations are ongoing.
No charges have been laid so far, as the investigation by the ACT Road Policing's Major Collision Team is continuing.
In a statement, ACT Policing said the collision was a reminder that drink driving puts both the driver and others at risk.
