Drink driver smashed into 12 parked cars and was Tasered by police

A drunk plasterer smashed into 12 parked cars before getting out, staggering back and driving off again.

He then tried to escape police by driving on the wrong side of the road and over two mini-roundabouts.

Drink driver Milo Cockram narrowly missed a motorcyclist when he was driving erratically in Clifton, Bristol Crown Court heard.

Having hit the parked cars he crashed into a barrier, got out, but then continued on his way.

Police were called in and Tasered him twice before arresting him - with Cockram telling them: "I'm really sorry."

The 25-year-old, of Merryweather Close in Bradley Stoke, pleaded guilty to failing to stop after an accident, dangerous driving and driving with no insurance and excess alcohol.

Judge Martin Picton jailed him for 17 months.

He told Cockram: "This was just a shocking and dangerous piece of driving."

Cockram was banned from driving for two years and eight months and ordered to take an extended driving test.

Gregory Gordon, prosecuting, said Cockram was in a newly bought Vauxhall Astra when he narrowly missed a motorcyclist before scraping 12 parked cars.

Having continued into Oakfield Place he crashed into a barrier, put the car into reverse and parked.

He then got out and ran off - but returned to the car and drove off flashing his hazard lights.

After a short police pursuit, in which he  drove at up to twice the speed limit, went on the wrong side of the road, swerved and drove over two mini roundabouts he came to a stop and was apprehended.

Mark Linehan, defending, said his young client had suffered from mental health issues and had drank.

He said: "It was luck rather than judgement nobody was injured or worse. He tells me that."
