'Drink driver' found asleep behind the wheel of his car by police

A 'drink driver' was found asleep behind the wheel of his car by police.

The man was found by police dozing in his car at the roadside in the early hours of Sunday.

Widnes Police officers on overnight patrol this weekend also found the keys in the car's ignition, according to their Twitter account.

After waking the driver up, officers suspected the man may have been drinking and he was ordered to carry out a roadside alcohol breath test.

And after blowing a result of 82 - more than twice the legal limit of 35 - he was arrested.

In custody, after being taken to a nearby police station, the driver was breathalysed twice more and gave two readings of 92 and 93 nearly three times the legal drink drive limit.
