Drew Rosenhaus will meet with Lions this week to discuss Slay, Harrison contracts

As the Lions rookies report for their first day of training camp, they will be joined in Allen Park by the agent for two key veterans embroiled in contract disputes with the team.

Per Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, Drew Rosenhaus has a meeting scheduled with the Lions front office this week. Rosenhaus is the agent for both defensive tackle Damon Harrison and cornerback Darius Slay. Both players have sat out the entire offseason thus far in search of new contracts with the Lions. Harrison and Slay each have two more seasons remaining on their existing contracts.

They have forfeited money already, and stand to lose significantly more ($40,000 per day) if they continue to hold out during training camp. The veterans are due to report for the first day of camp next Thursday.

The meeting with Rosenhaus is the first sign of any movement towards a resolution. It is no guarantee that anything will be agreed upon before training camp kicks off, however.
