Drew Rosenhaus predicts Miami will draft Clemson DL Christian Wilkins

The last time mega-agent Drew Rosenhaus made a bold prediction centered around the Dolphins, he did pretty well. That was, of course, when he predicted that offensive tackle Ja’Wuan James would become the highest paid right tackle in all of football.

That did materialize as fact, though it happened in Denver and not in Miami. In any case, Rosenhaus was back on South Florida airwaves over the weekend and he had another bold proclamation — the Miami Dolphins will select Clemson defensive tackle Christian Wilkins with their first pick.

Lending credibility to this prediction, along with Rosenhaus’ own connections, is the fact that Miami’s defensive line coach is none other than Marion Hobby. Hobby spent six years as a member of the Clemson Tigers’ defensive coaching staff. Hobby was on staff as recently as 2016, when the Tigers — along with Wilkins — defeated the Alabama Crimson Tide for their first of two national championships this decade.

This will be one to monitor. The Dolphins have enthusiastically targeted talent that they know on an intimate level this off-season. Many of their free agent signings worked closely with Miami’s leadership in other locations. Adding Wilkins would continue that trend but more importantly he’d add a great deal of versatility to Miami’s defensive front. This team wants to play a lot of different looks and alignments — Wilkins is capable of playing a great deal of looks.
