Drew McIntyre issues Rangers title prediction as Scots wrestler smacks down Celtic chances

Rangers mad wrestler Drew McIntyre has fired a bold title prediction after just five games as he's tipped Steven Gerrard to retain the Scottish crown.

The Ayr-born grappler is predicting another famous season as he plans his own homecoming next week at the SSE Hydro.

And he reckons the Premiership champions will get even stronger to see off the challenge of Ange Postecoglou and Celtic.

McIntyre, like Rangers, savoured success behind closed doors when he won the WWE Championship in front of a virtual audience and he's startled by the similar trajectories between himself and his beloved Blues.

Unfortunately he can't make it back to Ibrox when he returns to Glasgow for the first time in 18 minutes – as he'll be in the ring when Gerrard's side take to the pitch against Livingston on the same night.

"This will be our season again," he told the Scotsman.

"That’s another prediction. Europe-wise we’ll do alright. It’s not really a season for Europe but we’ll win the league again, so it’s all progress.

"Every season we get a little better and that’s been the case for what the last few years. Every year we get a little bit better.

"I always think of the parallels when I got fired in 2014 and Rangers were down but every year I’d get a little bit better and make a bigger name for myself and Rangers would move up the divisions.

"We kept rising together and I got to WWE, and when I won the title I said we’d been rising together and now I’d won the title they had to win the league and sure enough I won the title and they won the league.

"It’s cool how we’ve paralleled with one another right back to the top.

"When Rangers win the league again, I want to win the title again and this time in front of fans. The first time I won there was no-one there and the second time it was in front of the virtual fans. Then I lost it right before the fans were back."
