Drew Lock reacts to Broncos drafting his college teammate

The Denver Broncos selected Missouri tight end Albert Okwuegbunam in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft on Saturday. Okwuegbunam played with Broncos quarterback Drew Lock from 2018-2019.

Here’s how Lock reacted to being reunited with his college teammate:

Okwuegbunam (6-5, 258 pounds) ran a 40-yard dash in 4.49 seconds at the combine earlier this offseason. During his three seasons at Missouri, Okwuegbunam caught 98 passes for 1,187 yards and 23 touchdowns.

Okwuegbunam scored 17 touchdowns during his two seasons playing with Lock. He will likely compete with Nick Vannett for the Broncos’ No. 2 tight end job behind starter Noah Fant, a first-round pick in 2019.

Okwuegbunam is the fourth offensive player John Elway has selected this year, joining Jerry Jeudy, KJ Hamler and Lloyd Cushenberry. Denver is clearly trying to set Lock up for success in 2020 and well beyond that.

As a rookie last season, Lock went 4-1 as a starter. This year, he’ll attempt to help the Broncos return to the playoffs for the first time since 2015.
