Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins wore a throwback John Elway jersey during his pre-draft visit to the Denver Broncos’ facility earlier this offseason.
Missouri quarterback Drew Lock didn’t wear a No. 7 jersey, but he did have a good meeting with the team’s general manager. He described his visit with Elway during a recent appearance on the “Unbuttoned” show last week.
“It was pretty unique,” Lock told Chris Simms. “It just came full circle where he played ball, he got recruited by the Broncos, played for the Broncos and did what he did there which was nothing short of outstanding. Now, he’s a part of that staff, trying to find another quarterback.
“For me to be up for that, for him to spend time with me sitting down watching film and having me install a play, just to have it come full circle where one of the better quarterbacks of all-time is now wanting me to play quarterback for him possibly, it was pretty cool.”
During his senior year with the Tigers, Lock completed 62.9 percent of his passes for 3,498 yards with 28 touchdowns against eight interceptions. He will likely be among Denver’s draft options at No. 10 overall.
