Drew Forbes designated for return from I.R. and is back at Browns practice

The Browns have made the long-expected speculation official. The team designated rookie offensive tackle Drew Forbes for return from his stint on injured reserve.

Forbes is eligible to return to action in Week 10 against the Buffalo Bills. He must miss the Browns’ first eight games, which includes next week’s matchup with the Denver Broncos as the team has also had a bye week. The sixth-rounder from Southeast Missouri State suffered a knee injury in preseason and was placed on I.R. after the final 53-man roster was determined.

The Browns actually maneuvered to get him on that roster, cutting starting left tackle Greg Robinson to sneak Forbes onto I.R. rather than risking another team claiming the promising young rookie.

As part of the process for being designated to return, Forbes was able to participate in Browns practice on Thursday. He is a potential solution to the team’s ongoing struggles up front once he returns to the active lineup.
