New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees shared a message with fans on Instagram on Wednesday afternoon, prior to undergoing surgery on his injured thumb. While the quarterback has been relatively positive about his situation and projected return timetable, the Saints fanbase has waited with bated breath for news of the franchise’s best player.
Brees injured his thumb during the first quarter against the Los Angeles Rams when his throwing hand collided with Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald’s arm. After seeking out two different opinions from doctors in Los Angeles and Houston, Brees opted to undergo surgery with Dr. Steven Shinn.
Brees gave fans an update by posting on Instagram with his wife Brittany by his side, just prior to the procedure. Today is her birthday, and she’s a phenomenal wife for spending it with her husband prior to his surgery:
A timetable for Drew Brees’ return will become more clear after completion of the surgery. During the surgery the doctors will be able to better understand the extent and severity of the injury.
