Drew Brees pays Aaron Donald huge compliment ahead of Week 2 game

You’d be hard-pressed to find many people who don’t view Aaron Donald as the best defensive player in the league. He’s won Defensive Player of the Year in each of the last two seasons and was an MVP candidate at one point last season.

He’s certainly earned the title of being the best pass rusher, despite being a defensive tackle facing double- and triple-teams on nearly every snap.

The Saints know all about Donald, having faced him three times in the last two seasons alone. Drew Brees will get another crack at No. 99 on Sunday in a marquee Week 2 matchup, but before he stares down Donald again, he made sure to pay him a huge compliment.

The Saints had success against Donald in their two meetings last season. In Week 9, Donald didn’t have a single sack and recorded just one tackle for loss. In the NFC championship, he hit Brees three times but was once again held without a sack.

The Saints use a quick passing attack to get the ball out quickly and efficiently, neutralizing the opposing pass rush. The Texans only got to Brees for one sack on Monday night, but the Rams (and Donald, specifically) hope to bring him down more than that.
