Drew Brees joins PFF’s Top 101 Players of 2018

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees put on an all-time great performance in 2018, breaking some of his own records and establishing new standards for everyone else in the NFL. To top it off, Brees received his due from Pro Football Focus in their Top 101 Players of 2018, ranking fourth:

After his 18th year in the NFL and his 13th year with the Saints, it’s hard not to include Brees in the conversation for one of the greatest quarterbacks ever to play the game. He earned an overall grade of 94.0 this year, the third-best single-season mark of the PFF era (2006-present) and to top off a campaign that had him mentioned as a sure-fire MVP candidate for most of the year; he broke the PFF record for single-season adjusted completion percentage.

Only one quarterback ranked ahead of Brees, and he clocked in at the third spot: Kansas City Chiefs MVP and Offensive Player of the Year, Patrick Mahomes. Brees joins teammates on PFF’s Top 101 including wide receiver Michael Thomas, defensive end Cam Jordan, running back Alvin Kamara, left tackle Terron Armstead, and right tackle Ryan Ramczyk. The six players representing New Orleans were one of the largest groups for any team, tying the totals put up by the Chiefs, Houston Texans, and New England Patriots. Only the Los Angeles Rams and Chicago Bears had more players, with eight each.
