Dreamgirls the musical is coming to Liverpool during its first ever UK tour

The multi-award winning Dreamgirls is coming to Liverpool next year on its first ever UK tour.

The Liverpool Empire has announced that the dazzling show will take over the theatre for 12 nights in 2021.

Featuring the classic songs 'And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going', 'Listen' and 'One Night Only', the multi-award winning new production of Dreamgirls had its critically acclaimed West End premiere in 2016 at London’s Savoy Theatre, 35 years on from opening on Broadway.

The show follows The Dreams (Effie, Lorrell and Deena), three talented young singers in the turbulent 1960s, a revolutionary time in American history, as they embark on a musical rollercoaster ride through the world of fame, fortune and the ruthless realities of show business, testing their friendships to the limit.

In 2006, Dreamgirls was adapted into an Oscar winning film starring Beyonce Knowles, Jennifer Hudson, Eddie Murphy and Jamie Foxx.

This production will be directed and choreographed by Olivier and Tony Award winning Casey Nicholaw, with set and costume design by Tim Hatley, lighting by Hugh Vanstone and sound by Richard Brooker.

Details on tickets for Dreamgirls are set to be released in the coming weeks via www.atgtickets.com .

Dreamgirls will be the Liverpool Empire, from Tuesday, February 23 - Saturday, March 6, 2021.
