The DreamCloud Classic and Helix Midnight Luxe are two of the most popular mattresses-in-a-box on the market — but which one is more suited to your sleeping style? In this comparison, we’ll be putting these two luxurious hybrids head-to-head to help you decide which one is worth your money.
Both feature in our guide to the best mattresses of 2025, with the DreamCloud Classic earning a spot for being an excellent value for money, and the Helix Midnight Luxe being crowned the most comfortable bed for side sleepers. But with the Helix costing nearly a grand more than the DreamCloud, you'll need to deeply consider the qualities you deem most important in a mattress.
Fortunately, they're both regularly marked down in monthly mattress sales, with DreamCloud offering a perma-discount (plus the occasional freebie), and Helix cutting as much as 27% off retail prices. But don't do any shopping until you read our DreamCloud Classic vs Helix Midnight Luxe showdown...
DreamCloud Classic vs Helix Midnight Luxe Mattress: Price & Trial
- An evergreen sale puts a queen DreamCloud Classic at $699
- Helix cuts between 20% and 27% off during monthly sales
- Both brands have a lifetime warranty, but DreamCloud offers a longer trial
Although the DreamCloud and the Helix are both luxury mattresses, the DreamCloud’s permanent discounts take it down into the mid-range price bracket.
You can ignore the MSRP (or 'Total Value') as DreamCloud never sells its mattresses at that suggested price. Evergreen DreamCloud mattress deals put the DreamCloud Classic firmly in the mid-range price bracket, dropping a queen-size to $699.
Better yet, DreamCloud has been including a bedding bundle free with purchase. It includes up to two pillows, a sheet set, and a mattress protector, all valued at up to $599.
Likewise, the Helix Midnight Luxe is never sold at full MSRP, but the sale prices are more dynamic by comparison. You’ll generally find between 20-25% off in the Helix mattress sales, but we regularly feature a semi-exclusive discount that cuts 27% off, which brings a queen Midnight Luxe to $1,751 (MSRP $2,398).
Benefits-wise, DreamCloud and Helix each offer a lifetime warranty, free shipping, and free returns. However, DreamCloud is much more generous with its trial period (365 nights) than Helix (100 nights)
DreamCloud Classic vs Helix Midnight Luxe Mattress: Materials & Design
- The 12" DreamCloud Classic has three internal layers and a quilted top
- The 13.5" Midnight Luxe has four internal layers and a plush pillow top
- Helix offers upgrades for more cooling and lumbar support
The DreamCloud Classic and the Helix Midnight Luxe are featured in our guide to the best hybrid mattresses, but they differ in construction. Notably, both beds have undergone some recent design changes.
The DreamCloud Classic has a 12" profile that starts with a CloudQuilt top with cooling fibers. This is a change from the previous DreamCloud models, which featured a blend of cashmere and polyester.
Underneath the cover, you’ll find a layer of quilted supportive foam, followed by a layer of contoured memory foam for pressure relief. Next comes a transition layer of foam that gives way to individually wrapped coils. Surrounding the mattress are firmer coils that boost edge support.
At the base is a thin, dense layer of stability foam, with a non-slip base cover that helps keep it in place on your bed base.

The 13.5" Helix Midnight Luxe comes standard with a breathable, hypoallergenic Tencel cover, with the option to upgrade to a GlacioTex cover for extra cooling. You’ll see the latter fabric in some of the best cooling mattresses.
Beneath the cover is a premium quilted pillow top that’s sewn directly into the top of the mattress to give it some plushness. Following that are layers of gel memory foam and high-density memory foam for added pressure relief and a medium level of comfort.
The transition layer is made up of Helix Responsive Foam for a seamless buffer between the memory foam comfort layers and a bed of up to 1,000 individually wrapped coils that are firmer in the middle (for lumbar support) and along the perimeter (for sturdy edges). A thin layer of DuraDense Foam sits at the base.
In addition to the optional GlacioTex cover, you can also upgrade the Helix Midnight Luxe to be even cooler via graphite ribbons that increase heat removal and provide more lumbar support with a layer of ErgoAlign foam.
DreamCloud Classic vs Helix Midnight Luxe Mattress: Comfort & Support
- The DreamCloud Classic has a brand-rated firmness of 8/10 (firm)
- The Helix Midnight Luxe is rated a 6/10 firmness (medium)
- Both mattresses are good choices for those with aches and pains
DreamCloud rates its Classic Hybrid an 8 out of 10 on its firmness scale, placing it in firm territory. We're still in the process of testing the DreamCloud Classic, but the previous DreamCloud Mattress had a firm surface that was well-suited to back and stomach sleepers. (In other words: Expect more of the same here.)
Notably, the lightweight side sleepers on our panel found the DreamCloud too firm for their liking, while the heavier stomach sleepers in our group found it too soft. Despite being a firmer hybrid, the DreamCloud offers more contouring than you'd expect, especially once you've settled into it. (This helps soothe any nagging aches and pains you may have.)
The sitting edge support is mediocre, despite the presence of reinforced perimeter coils, but we had a different experience when lying on the edge, which is good news if you like to sprawl out (or your partner nearly pushes you out of bed).

We're also in the process of trying the updated Helix Midnight Luxe, which has a few slight design changes compared to what we experienced in our previous Helix Midnight Luxe mattress review.
Either way, this is a bona fide mattress for side sleepers, with the plush pillow top in particular delivering outstanding pressure relief for the shoulders, hips, and knees. This also translates to exceptional comfort when back sleeping, as the plush pillow top and lower support layers provide just enough lift. (Stomach sleepers will find it too soft.)
One of our testers also slept on the Helix Midnight Luxe with ErgoAlign, and felt the tension melt in her lower back. But even without the ErgoAlign upgrade, we still rate it highly among the best mattresses for back pain.
Compared to the DreamCloud, the Helix Midnight Luxe is a stronger performer in the edge support category. The sides of the bed experienced minimal sink during our objective and real-world tests.
DreamCloud Classic vs Helix Midnight Luxe Mattress: Temperature Control
- DreamCloud features a CloudQuilt cover made with cooling fibers
- The Helix Midnight Luxe comes standard with a breathable Tencel cover
- Helix offers a couple of upgrades to cater to hot sleepers

The DreamCloud Classic swaps the cashmere-blend cover for a CloudQuilt cover that's made with cooling fibers for enhanced temperature regulation. Reactions are mixed; one of our testers found this updated cover sufficient for wicking away excess heat, while another tester noticed some heat retention. In any case, the DreamCloud wouldn't be our first choice for very hot sleepers.
The redesigned Helix Midnight Luxe has a breathable Tencel cover, along with 4lbs of titanium and graphite-infused memory foam for breathability. On its own, we rate it hot sleeper-friendly, but if you can stretch your budget a little further, consider adding the GlacioTex cover and CoolForce graphite ribbons upgrades for the best cooling this mattress has to offer.
DreamCloud Classic vs Helix Midnight Luxe Mattress: Which should you buy?
Buy the DreamCloud Classic if…
✅ You’re on a tighter budget: It’s still a mid-range mattress, but with its permanent discount, the DreamCloud is considerably cheaper than the Helix.
✅ You want a firmer bed: While it's not totally unyielding, expect the DreamCloud to have a firmer feel than the Helix Midnight Luxe. (We recommend it for back sleepers and most stomach sleepers.)
✅ You'd like to take your time trying it out: A full year's trial is more than enough time to figure out if the DreamCloud is right for you. You also have the benefit of trying it through seasonal changes, so you can gauge its cooling properties carefully.
Buy the Helix Midnight Luxe if…
✅ You’re a strict side sleeper: The plush pillow top, medium comfort foams, and targeted lumbar support culminate in a mattress that keeps side sleepers well-aligned while providing pressure relief in key areas.
✅ You want excellent edge support: The Helix is reinforced around all four of its edges, meaning you can sit comfortably on any side of the bed. It also allows you to stretch out in bed and take full advantage of the width.
✅ You're a hot sleeper: On its own, the Helix Midnight Luxe is a breathable mattress, but if you have the money to spend, add the GlacioTex and CoolForce upgrades for the coolest sleep you'll have on this bed.
