Dream wedding bid for Glasgow mum facing terminal breast cancer aged just 28

An "extraordinary" young Glasgow mum who has been told she has months to live is hoping to have her dream wedding before her death.

Kirstie was diagnosed with breast cancer three years ago immediately after she gave birth to her daughter Harley and has now been told that her condition is terminal.

The 28-year-old was due to marry her fiance Steven in March next year, however due to her new diagnosis their wedding has been brought forward.

Now, her sisters Suzanne and Chloe Dott have launched a fundraiser to try and give Kirstie her dream wedding.

Sharing the appeal on GoFundMe, they said: "Our sister Kirstie is only 28 -years-old and has been recently diagnosed with terminal cancer which she has been told will limit her life expectancy to a mere few months.

"For those who know Kirstie, you will know that she is an extraordinary human being, and this fight is far from over. She is a beautiful, cheerful, loving and an incredibly strong young woman. She always puts her family and loved ones before herself. There is never a dull moment when she is around as she is always there to put a smile on your face."

Kirstie's cancer was in remission until April 2020 when she was given the devastating news that the disease had returned and spread to her lymph nodes. Recently, she was informed that the cancer has spread further through her body.

The appeal continues: "Her world revolves around her little family made up of her husband-to-be Steven, her little gorgeous girl Harley, and their doggy Nala. Kirstie and Steven are due to marry on March 19 2022, however due to this recent news, the plan is to now push this forward.

"As a result, Kirstie and Steven have had to cancel their wedding venue with no other alternative bookings in place. We ask anyone who wants to contribute to this cause, that they donate even the smallest amount. This will be the biggest support and will help us ensure that they can have the wedding of their dreams."

It adds: "Kirstie is the most selfless and courageous person I have ever known and is always there to give her love and support to anyone that needs it.

"Now I feel like it is our time to give back some of that love and support to Kirstie. Any support or donation would mean the world to us and would help us make sure that Kirstie has the wedding she has dreamed of since she was a little girl."

So far, more than £5,000 has been raised for Kirstie and Steven's wedding. To donate, visit the GoFundMe page here.
