'Dream signing', 'similar to Fabregas' - Arsenal fans reveal transfer wish after Chelsea defeat

Arsenal fans have been eyeing a move for Leicester City star James Maddison after his role in the 2-0 win over Chelsea on Tuesday night.

The 24-year-old has been in fine form of late for Brendan Rodgers' side, scoring five goals in his last seven appearances including one in the win over Frank Lampard's team at the King Power Stadium.

The result pushed the Foxes to the top of the Premier League having played a game more than Manchester United, and two more than Manchester City.

The Gunners have been in fine form of late, rising to 10th in the Premier League after a poor start to the season.

But as we head towards the latter stages of the January transfer window, there is one thing that seems to be missing from the Gunners with the boardroom searching for a creative midfielder.

In the summer, Houssem Aouar was identified as a potential signing, with the Gunners hierarchy pushing hard to try and bring the Lyon midfielder to North London.

However, a move could not be agreed, with Thomas Partey the only man to come in at the end of the window.

Since then, Jack Grealish has been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium, after naming the ground as his favourite in the Premier League.

Speculation has been rife about a move for Norwich star Emiliano Buendia, but Norwich's valuation of the midfielder looks to have put paid to any hopes of that deal coming off.

And so Arsenal fans have looked elsewhere. With Maddison putting in yet another fine performance, it's no shock that Gunners supporters are wondering about a move for the England international.

Maddison told Sky Sports after the game that the 2-0 win over Chelsea was Leicester's most complete team performance of the season so far - but they are not considering any talk of a title challenge just yet.

“I don’t think you’ll see a more complete team performance from us this season, so far I should say," he stated.

"It had a bit of everything. It had a bit of tactical nous, it had a bit of quality when needed.

"We work hard every time on stifling the opposition and I thought we did that brilliantly.

"Credit to the manager as well. We had a little switch at half-time where we went to a bit of a 4-4-2 out of possession, 4-3-3 in possession.

"Just little things like that, thinking on our feet. We dealt with the threat that came our way and it was a thoroughly deserved three points.

"I'm going to have to be boring with my answer because you can get sidetracked. We’re top of the table at the minute because we don’t think like that.

"The next game, as boring as it is – and I’m sorry I have to say it Geoff – is the most important game.

"As cliche as it is, that’s how we’ve got to work. That’s where we want to be, we’re not up there by fluke, we’re up because we work hard.

"People might talk about the Liverpools, the United, the Tottenhams, or whatever, but let’s let them talk. We’ll do our business in the background."
