Dream job up for grabs for tea drinkers who love to travel

If you’re fond of a cuppa and the idea of being paid to drink tea appeals to you, then there’s a new job opening worth checking out.

Leading tea brand Tetley Tea has revealed it’s looking for candidates to fill two new “Graduate Tea Buyers” roles.

As part of the job, successful applicants could taste up to 300 different teas per day, learn new skills and embark on training to become a tea master.

And if that’s not enough to tempt you, the role will require you to travel the world and build relationships with suppliers and tea growers, the Liverpool Echo reports.

The successful two candidates will be expected to "learn the language of tea."

A spokesperson for Tetley said: “This is a dream job which few know exist.

“Tea tasting is a fine art, much like a wine sommelier, which takes years to master. 10,000 hours of training across 450 skills need to be completed to be considered an expert, and that’s what we’re offering!

They added: “You don’t need to have a refined palate when you’re starting out, this is developed through our training and mentoring programme.

"So, if you have a clear passion for great tasting food and drink, and would love to learn about the zing, sparkle, colour and body of different quality tea types, we want to hear from you.”

The full-time positions will be based at Tetley's headquarters in London.

But, after completing training, the Graduate Tea Buyers will have the opportunity to travel the world to visit tea growing regions so that they can expand their knowledge in the hot drink world.

However, getting your hands on the role isn't easy as the job requires a 2:2 level grade in any degree discipline, as well as having strong planning, time management and organisational skills.

The pioneers of tea, who were established in 1837, said: "Tasting tea is a key part of the role so you need to have a clear passion for everything tea related."

If you think you'd be a good fit for the job then apply quickly as the closing date is at the end of next week on November 5.
