Dre Kirkpatrick says loss to Bills was ‘more frustrating than last week’

Cincinnati Bengals vocal leaders weren’t happy coming out of the team’s Week 3 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

Cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick was one of the ringleaders in this area, telling Jay Morrison of The Athletic the following: “It’s frustrating as (expletive). I’m sick right now. We was that close. For us not to pull this one out, it’s more frustrating than last week.”

Kirkpatrick also told ESPN’s Ben Baby he’s “tired of losing” and classified it as “unacceptable.”

It isn’t hard to see why Bengals players might feel this way. The Week 2, 41-17 blowout at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers was just that — a blowout. It was also an opponent from a different conference.

As for Week 3, the Bills are a familiar opponent from the AFC and the Bengals were right in it for most of the day — at least on the scoreboard. They took the lead late and were again driving for a potential game-winning score when the offense sputtered again.

It isn’t too surprising that this sort of commentary stems from a defensive player, either. The Bills had the ball for 36:54, which wore the defense out and played a role in some of the unit’s late mistakes.
