DRDO test fires laser guided anti-tank missile

DRDO conducting test firing of Laser Guided Anti Tank Guided Missile from MBT Arjun at KK Ranges (ACC&S) in Ahmednagar.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on Wednesday successfully test fired a laser guided Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM) from the indigenous Arjun main battle tank.

“The missile employs a tandem High-Explosive Anti-Tank [HEAT] warhead to defeat Explosive Reactive Armour [ERA] protected armoured vehicles,” the DRDO said in a statement. It has been developed with multiple-platform launch capability and is currently undergoing technical evaluation trials from the gun of the Arjun.

The tests were conducted at the Armoured Corps Centre and School, Ahmednagar and the ATGM successfully defeated a target located at 3 km, the DRDO stated.
