Drayton Manor forced to close during half term after Storm Dennis devastation

Drayton Manor has had to close for the first three days of half term because of flooding caused by Storm Dennis.

The family-friendly attraction, situated in Tamworth, in Staffordshire, has shared images showing the full extent of flooding on its site.

It will come as a blow to families hoping to enjoy the rides and fun attractions at the site during the half-term break, reports Birmingham Live.

Drayton Manor announced it would be shut on Monday, February 17, with further closures on Tuesday, February 18, and Wednesday, February 19.

Storm Dennis wreaked havoc over the weekend - with a huge downpour affecting Drayton Manor.

Its rides have been submerged in water after floods swept through the site over the weekend after the main lake burst its banks.

A major clean-up operation is now underway as recovery teams begin the extensive repair work.

Managing director William Bryan said: “We made the decision to close the park yesterday following adverse weather conditions which caused significant flooding on-site.

“Thankfully the rain has now stopped, but flooding from the main lake means a number of areas are still submerged under water. The Drayton Manor team is working tirelessly to get the site back to normal as quickly as possible, and we are hoping to re-open to the public towards the end of the week.

“As always, the safety of our guests and staff is our utmost priority, and we are doing everything we can to ensure the site is safe and secure for visitors to enjoy."
