Draymond Green: ‘We’ll probably look like (expletive) tomorrow’

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green isn’t sweating the small stuff, like the fact that his restructured team debuts at its new billion-dollar Chase Center home tomorrow night, down to its fourth- and fifth-string centers, with most members of the team never having played in a game together.

“We’ll probably look like (expletive) tomorrow,” Green told The Athletic’s Anthony Slater. “Who cares? First preseason game.”

He’s right, of course. The game doesn’t count toward the Warriors’ season record and it’s a time for coach Steve Kerr to experiment with lineups and for Green and his teammates to build chemistry.

Still, the 2019-20 preseason opener is special even if Green is advertising indifference.

For most fans, it’ll be their first experience at Chase Center, which in and of itself would be exciting. It’s also the basketball world’s first opportunity to see how Warriors superstar Stephen Curry plays with D’Angelo Russell.

Of course, there’s intrigue about how the backup centers will perform in the absence of Willie Cauley-Stein (foot) and Kevon Looney (hamstring), especially against the retooled Los Angeles Lakers that will feature Anthony Davis with LeBron James in the front court.
