Well, it was a heck of a run from Draymond Green. He certainly made Michigan State fans proud and was one of the best players in the playoffs, but he and Steph Curry were not enough to overcome injuries and the relentless Toronto Raptors, losing 114-110 in what will be the final game in Oracle Arena and Oakland, California before the team moves to San Francisco.
Draymond Green stole the ball with just seconds left on the clock and attempted to call a timeout, but the Warriors were out of timeouts and were a given a technical foul. The Raptors won the series 4 games to 2. It is the first Championship in Franchise history.
Kevin Durant famously went down with a devastating achilles rupture in game 5. He was out for much of the playoffs before that with a calf strain and heroically attempted to play before suffering an injury that could keep him out all of next season.
Klay Thompson also went down with a ‘tough to watch’ knee injury in the third quarter, taking him out of the game. It is unclear if the injury will require surgery at this time, but didn’t look good at the time. He did manage to hobble back out and shoot his free throws. Klay Thompson is tough.
Draymond Green has one more year on his contract with the Warriors, and after playing some of his best basketball ever at age 29, it is unclear at this time if the Warriors will pay to keep him in San Francisco past next season, but it will be interesting to find out what happens to the Spartan Dawg.
