Draymond Green taking time away from Warriors after altercation with Jordan Poole at practice

For the first time since news broke of an altercation at practice, Draymond Green addressed the media following the viral video surfacing of his fight with teammate Jordan Poole

On Saturday, Green met with the media to publicly apologize to Poole and answer questions from the fallout of his incident at practice and the video’s release.

Although the Golden State Warriors haven’t formally disciplined Green, the former Defensive Player of the Year announced he will take some time away from the team.

From a human being standpoint, from a personal standpoint, I have some things to fix and I’m going to fix those things.

I’m going to take a few days away because, quite frankly, if I’m being honest, it’s hard for me to walk up to Jordan right now. And so, like I said, I’ll take some time and work through my things, allow him and this team to work through their things separate of me because there will be a time to work through those things with me. I look forward to those times.

After Green’s announcement, Steve Kerr called it a “mutual decision” to have the four-time NBA champ away from the team for a piece of training camp.

Mutual decision based on everything that’s happened and discussions behind the scenes.

The Warriors recently returned from a trip to Japan that included two preseason games against the Washington Wizards. The Warriors will have three more preseason games left on the slate before opening the season against the Los Angeles Lakers on Oct. 18.

It’s still unclear if Green will be available for the unveiling of the Warriors’ new banner and ring night against the Lakers to start the 2022-23 NBA campaign.
