Draymond Green: ‘Some teams, you’ve got idiots’ in terms of IQ, but not the Warriors

Golden State Warriors starting forward Draymond Green has said he is getting the 2019-20 season off to a solid start by continuing the diet and exercise plan he followed to drop 23 pounds in six weeks leading up to the playoffs. It seems he’s also picking up where he left as one of the biggest wisecrackers in the NBA.

The Warriors stars are known for their basketball IQ. The players are so adept at the game that coach Steve Kerr is keen to let them figure things out for themselves rather than draw up a play when they’re struggling. Whether “basketball IQ” was a specific job requirement is unclear, but it’s hard to imagine that it wouldn’t be important to Kerr and the rest of the coaching staff.

Apparently, they did well at the 2019 NBA Draft and the picks get Green’s stamp of approval.

During practice on Friday, Green told The Athletic’s Anthony Slater:

You can’t really teach IQ. However, this seems to be a pretty smart team. There aren’t really any idiots [in Golden State]. Some teams, you’ve got idiots.

Well, at least he didn’t name any names.

Welcome to the new NBA season!
