Draymond Green snubbed from All-Defensive First Team again

The announcement of the All-Defensive Teams on Wednesday brought good news to the Golden State Warriors.

Two Warriors made the All-Defensive Second Team with Klay Thompson and Draymond Green earning the selections.

For Thompson, this is his first appearance on an All-Defensive Team which has been long overdue for the Warriors shooting guard. His length and endurance have been assets for him and are the reasons he has made a big impact on that end of the floor for Golden State.

For Green, this is his second straight appearance on the Second Team, which has to be disappointing for him. He had words for reporters in 2018 when he missed out on making the First Team:

Although Thompson is surely pleased to make the All-Defensive Second Team, Green doesn’t figure to be so happy. In October, he told reporters that he was using his 2018 All-Defensive Second Team selection as motivation, saying, “I don’t think any voter can tell me (there are) five defensive players better than me.”

Green led the Warriors in steals this season with 1.4, was tied for second on the team in blocks at 1.1, can defend any position on the floor and his defensive box plus-minus was at 3.4 this season.

He did make some history in the process, too, tying the great Nate Thurmond for the franchise’s most career All-Defensive Team selections — with five.
