Draymond Green skewers reporters, defends DeMarcus Cousins’ defense

Quell the anxiety. Calm the hysterics. If only the whole of Warriors Nation had listened to Golden State power forward Draymond Green, fans’ undies wouldn’t be in blue-and-yellow bunches.

Green told everyone days ago that nothing is wrong with center DeMarcus Cousins’ defense.

In the Warriors’ Friday night win over the Denver Nuggets at Oracle Arena — a game that finally giving the hometown crowd something to cheer about — Cousins filled up the box score with monster defensive stats, and Green wasted no time reminding reporters in his postgame presser of his prior statements on the matter.

Visibly irritated by the media’s story line concerning Cousins, Green sounded off:

Everyone wanted to talk [expletive] about DeMarcus’ defense. I told y’all last game, we hadn’t played with energy, or at practice.  Everybody was all, oh, it’s a problem when DeMarcus is out there. Yet. Everyone picked their energy up, and now all of sudden no one’s talking about “DeMarcus is a problem defensively” and “it’s a good matchup for him.” That’s [expletive] to me.

Asked whether the media criticism lit a fire under Cousins to produce his outstanding 13 points, six rebounds, six assists, three steals and six blocks, Green said, “No, I think it pissed him off.”
