Draymond Green signing shoe deal with Converse

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Golden State Warriors defensive star Draymond Green is signing a shoe deal with Converse to become the brand’s first high-profile athlete since Dwyane Wade, who left Converse to sign with Team Jordan in 2009. Green is the third Warriors player to have a shoe endorsement deal, joining Stephen Curry (Under Armour) and Klay Thompson (ANTA).

(Warriors swingman Andrew Wiggins was signed to Adidas until 2018)

Known for his defensive versatility and playmaking ability on the court, along with a fiery personality (that sees him receive plenty of technicals), Green’s success makes him a great athlete to help boost Converse’s profile. Playing for the best team of the last decade doesn’t hurt either, with the Warriors expected to resume their dominant ways next season when they have a fully-healthy roster.

As Wojnarowski notes, Green had previously been signed with Nike. That saw the big man become the frontman for the 2017 Nike Hyperdunk Flyknit.

Now Green will have an opportunity to take on a bigger project, in the show made popular by NBA icon Julius “Dr. J” Erving.

The Bay Area will be anxiously awaiting Green’s custom kicks.
