Draymond Green shows off slender physique in offseason videos

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green, set to become a free agent in 2020, signed a four-year $100 million contract extension in free agency that will keep him in San Francisco until 2024.

After news broke that Green had signed the extension, Warriors coach Steve Kerr revealed that the organization had been discussing the possibility of making that offer for some time, stating, “Nobody deserves it more than Draymond.”

Perhaps part of what sealed the deal for the Warriors was Green’s pre-playoffs transformation. Green dropped 23 pounds between March 5, the day after his birthday, and the mid-April start of the 2019 NBA Playoffs. He got into postseason playing shape by working with a nutritionist and adding additional cardio to his days, namely SoulCycle.

Green’s efforts paid off, putting him in peak condition and prime athleticism during the playoffs. And while some of his teammates succumbed to injuries, Green remained healthy and strong.

Let’s Go Warriors posted a video compilation that features Green putting in work on the court with teammates Alfonzo McKinnie and D’Angelo Russell, plus former teammate DeMarcus Cousins prior to his 2019-20 season-ending ACL injury.

Green looks lithe and lean in the videos, with someone from Let’s Go Warriors asking how much weight he’d lost.

“Just a little bit,” Green responds.

The people at Let’s Go Warriors questioned whether Green has dropped too much. Ultimately, that’s for him and Golden State’s medical personnel to decide. But here are some photos for comparison.

The video from Let’s Go Warriors includes a GIF of Green clinking wine glasses with his fiance over dinner — his plate displaying portions much smaller than what many Americans are used to eating, but what nutritionist probably would advise.
