Draymond Green searches for silver lining in Kevin Durant’s absence

The Golden State Warriors’ path for a third-straight NBA championship is anything other than smooth. Thanks to them, they know how to win under a variety of adversities. But the team has never looked more vulnerable than it does right now.

DeMarcus Cousins returned to the postseason after missing six weeks with a torn quad. Kevin Durant went down with a calf strain on April 15 and has not played since. Warriors coach Steve Kerr says Durant will not enter a game during the Finals until he has emerged damage-free from a full-contact practice. He did not practice with the team on Saturday.

Unable to contribute on the court, Draymond Green revealed in a postgame practice that Durant has been doing his part behind the scenes. Watching the practices and games — probably studying film — and sharing his view with the team. As Green noted in this presser, Durant has a different view — literally.

But will Durant’s sideline perspective, in lieu of his 34 points per game, provide enough information to help the Warriors figure out a feisty, undeterred Toronto Raptors?

The Warriors tip off against the Raptors in Game 2 today, Sunday, June 2, at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC.
