Draymond Green’s extension has opt-out clause, trade kicker

While Draymond Green’s contract extension cements the core in place for the Golden State Warriors for years to come, his agent Rich Paul was able to negotiate a few additional clauses that would benefit Green just in case the run of the Warriors combusts before anyone expects.

Shams Charania of The Athletic reported early Monday that Green is the first remaining member of the dynasty to have a player option in the final year of his contract, while Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports reported that Green has a 15 percent trade bonus in his contract should the team decide to move on from their defensive anchor.

Green, a three-time NBA champion and NBA all-star, recently left his previous representation to sign with Rich Paul and Klutch Sports this past spring. Even before Green signed an extension to lock in an additional $100 million, the decision looked smart as Klutch recently partnered with Hollywood talent giant United Talent Agency.

Among entertainers that UTA represents are ‘Space Jam 2’ cast member Don Cheadle, as well as Angelina Jolie, Harrison Ford, Martin Lawrence and Paul Giamatti.
