Draymond Green reflects on spat with Kevin Durant

Draymond Green found the positive in his confrontation with Kevin Durant earlier this season. The relationship between Green and Durant had grown tense after Green repeatedly swore at Durant in the locker room after an overtime loss to the L.A. Clippers in November, according to Yahoo.

Green and Durant seem to have moved on. With the Warriors heading to their fifth consecutive NBA Finals, here’s what Green said about Durant on Monday night during an interview with NBC Sports Bay Area.

“Me and Kevin been had a great relationship. We had the moment we had in November, but I don’t have any close friends that I haven’t gotten into it with in a major way. I’ve gotten into with my brother – my blood brother – in a major way. That’s just what it is but tough times build character and that’s what I’ve done.”

A part of the drama between stemmed from Green reportedly suggesting the the Warriors can win without Durant. Green went so far as to tell Durant to “leave,” according to Yahoo. Coincidentally, the Warriors looked impressive in the Western Conference Finals while sweeping the Portland Trail Blazers, despite losing Durant in the conference semifinals. Naturally, that spurred the question: Are the Warriors better without KD? Golden State probably isn’t a better team without Durant, one of the best players in basketball. But chemistry is a fickle thing.

Regardless, Durant is expected to test free agency this offseason, according to NBC Sports Bay Area. So while the sting of Green’s comments may have lifted, Durant may do exactly what Green said: leave.
