Draymond Green or Durant: ‘While he’s here, we’re going to win another championship’

It feels like the spat between Draymond Green and Kevin Durant during a random November loss to the Clippers happened ages ago. At the time, though, so many believed that that argument was the beginning of the end of the Warriors run as the best team in the NBA.

However, Green got healthy and he mended his relationship with Durant. The Warriors have the best record in the Western Conference despite going Klay Thompson’s slump, integrating DeMarcus Cousins, Steph Curry’s slump and the slow start after the All-Star break.

With all of their struggles this season, they’re still the team to beat. Even with that laundry list of issues, that still didn’t even touch the one that’s been resurfacing just about every week: Kevin Durant’s impending free agency.

If there is one guy who has an opinion on what it means for the team, it’s going to be Green. And in his eyes, it doesn’t matter what Durant’s future plans are since the team is still going to be playing basketball in June, according to The Athletic’s Sam Amick.

“He’s part of it right now,” Green said about Durant. “Whatever happens this summer happens. Whatever the hell he do, he does. If he go, he go. If he stay, he stay. But while he’s here, we’re going to win another championship. It’s just that simple. Nothing else matters.”

This probably sums up how the whole organization feels about the Durant situation. And if we’re keeping it real, this is probably how Durant would feel if he were left alone about it altogether until after the Finals.

The team is coming off back-to-back wins against potential playoff foes and seem to finally be locking in on the team they want to be as the last month of the season starts to come to a close.

Naturally, the Warriors would love to have Durant back in the fold as they open up the brand new Chase Center in San Francisco, but there probably won’t be any complaints considering what the Warriors have been able to accomplish during his tenure with the team.

For Green, it’s title or bust, and then they can go from there.
