Draymond Green defends Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo

Now that the NCAA Tournament has kicked off, all eyes are on the college basketball world. People are promoted and scrutinized more than any other point in the season. On Thursday, arguably no person was scrutinized more than Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo. In the midst of their second round matchup against 15 seed Bradley, Izzo went ballistic on freshman Aaron Henry during a timeout early in the second half. Izzo had to be retrained by other members of the team, specifically star guard Cassius Winston.

Adding fuel to the fire was that Izzo did not seem to have any remorse for his actions.

Izzo faced heavily backlash by media and fans around the country. Many people increasingly disagree with the style of berating coaching that “old school” coaches such as Izzo employ. However, Izzo had at least one person in his corner, Warriors forward Draymond Green. Green sent a series of tweets yesterday analyzing the situation and defending his college coach and close friend.

The second-seeded Michigan State Spartans will face No. 10 Minnesota Saturday at 6:45 p.m.
