Draymond Green after Game 3 loss: ‘People want to see us lose’

The Golden State Warriors returned home to The Bay after winning Game 2 in Toronto to steal home-court advantage in the NBA Finals, and they were feeling confident. Then, the rash of injuries continued and it wasn’t enough to overcome in a 123-109 loss to the Raptors at home.

The defending champs were still without Kevin Durant, who has missed the last eight games due to a calf strain. Important backup big man Kevon Looney was out with broken cartilage around his collar bone. Klay Thompson was ruled out before Game 3 with a hamstring strain he suffered in the Game 2 win.

Stephen Curry was terrific, scoring a career playoff high 47 points with eight rebounds and seven assists and Draymond Green added 17 points and seven rebounds. It wasn’t enough for Golden State to overcome Toronto.

Post game, Green said the injuries are not an excuse, telling reporters:

Nobody cares those guys are hurt. People want to see us lose, so I’m sure people are happy they’re hurt.

The Warriors have to hope both Thompson and Durant can return for Game 4 on Friday. Unlike the two days off in between the first two games of this series, there is only one day off in between these Games 3 and 4, leaving them little time to heal up.

Game 4 is Friday from Oracle Arena in Oakland.
