#Draw4Atena: add your cartoons in support of the jailed Iranian artist

Cartoonists around the world have been drawing in solidarity with Atena Farghadani, an Iranian aritst and activist sentenced to more than 12 years in prison for drawing Iranian leaders as monkeys and cows. The 28 year old drew her cartoon to protest a government vote on bith control. Her arrest is one of a spate of heavy jail sentences against artists and activists.

Spurred by an open letter by US-based campaign group Cartoonists Rights Network International, and an appeal by cartoonist Michael Cavna, artists have been sharing their cartoons across social media to help raise awareness of her case. Farghadani has two weeks to appeal her sentence.

Below are a selection of the images being drawn and shared. Want to add your weight to the campaign? You can share your own cartoons via GuardianWitness, by clicking on the blue button below. You can also email us on guardian.witness@theguardian.com. We’ll publish a gallery of your submissions on the Guardian site.
