Jack Woolley will have to beat the top three seeds to win Taekwondo gold in Tokyo.
However the 22-year-old will fancy his chances of progressing to the medal fights in Tokyo after the draw was made today.
Wooley is the sixth seed of our 16 competitors as he prepares to become the first Irish competitor in the sport to participate in the Olympic Games.
The Dubliner has been paired with 11th seed Lucas Lautaro Guzman in the first round and will be confident of progressing to the quarter-finals, where he would be expected to come up against Armin Hadipour Seighalani, the third seed.
The Iranian will fight Colombian opponent Jefferson Ochoa Fernandez (seeded 14) in his first round contest.
Woolley hasn't fought Seighalani in four years, but is in the shape of his life and victory would potentially set up a semi-final with Vito Dell'Aquila, the second seed.
So it's not an easy path for Woolley, although he will be pleased to have avoided gold medal favourite Jun Jang of Korea, who is in the other side of the draw - and would only face him in the final.
Notably, there is also a chance to win a bronze through the Repechage should Wooley lose an early fight.
