Dramatic video shows inferno at former Scots nursery after it goes up in flames

A former Scots nursery building has gone up in flames with dramatic photos and videos showing the inferno being shared on social media.

Emergency services rushed to the old Spateston Pre-5 Centre in Johnstone, Renfrewshire at around 5.35pm on Friday August 20.

While no injuries have been reported as a result of the blaze, the emergency services remain in attendance, Police Scotland confirmed.

One video from a passer-by shows people standing on the street as fire and thich smoke billow into the air from the premises.

The building was scheduled to be demolished this week but images show the extent of the damage that has already been caused.

Part of the surrounding area has been cordoned off by the police.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a fire at a premises on Walpole Place, Johnstone, around 5.35pm.

“Emergency services are currently in attendance and there are no reports of any injuries.”

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson advised Glasgow Live: "We sent three appliances to Walpole Place at approximately 5.20pm this evening."
They also confirmed fire crews are no longer in attendance.
